Virginia Tribe Unveils Casino Project for Richmond

The state of Virginia is known for native Pamunkey Indian Tribe, which is settled in King William County and nearby Richmond. The tribe used to live in the same place since the English invasion, following the traditions of ancestors. of Tribe have just announced the readiness to work on a $350 million resort hotel and casino in Richmond.
About the Plan
According to the plan, a brand-new resort will be located at a 36-acre warehouse and storage area at Ingram Avenue and Commerce Road, South Side. There are two options for the Pamunkey tribe – either purchasing a land made of three parcels or buying a 13-acre property at Walmsley Boulevard and Jef- ferson Davis Highway. The initial intention is to use the old department store venue as a training area for casino workers which can later be converted into a grocery store or health care center.
The Richmond casino project is still in a preparatory phase. Virginia should approve legislation that allows casino operation in the state. According to the legal prescriptions, Richmond citizens should take part in the referendum to decide whether to allow casino operation. The tribe is positive about the outcome and construction plans.

More About the Venue
The Richmond property will include a four-diamond, 275-room hotel overlooking the James River and Downtown and allowing visitors to enjoy the breathtaking atmosphere. It will feature not the only casino, but also a spa, pool, fitness center, cozy restaurants, food court, and a spacious parking area. According to the predictions, the resort will attract about 4 million visitors per year.
Tribal spokesman Jay Smith observed that casino would tribe in obtaining financial means which would be later used for additional projects, like the development of University for Native Americans, construction of senior residences and similar community projects.
It is still to be seen whether the Richmond project will get a green light. The city Mayor, Levar M. Stoney, believes that the resort would require a 1.5 billion Coliseum replacement project. The Mayor considers that the development wouldn’t be possible without the same.
Mayor Stoney’s press secretary, Jim Nolan, said:
“The mayor is excited about the opportunity to bring a resort casino to Richmond. We’ll wait to see what happens in the General Assembly and what it means for the city.”
