The Isle of Man Gambling Supervisory Commission Approves Hacksaw Gaming

The United Kingdom Gambling Commission has decided to impose a license suspension on Stakers, the iGaming and sports betting operator. The suspension comes as a result of the operator’s failure to comply with a number of unstated issues.
The review was commenced under section 116 of the Gambling Act 2005, and the United Kingdom Gambling Commission has decided to suspend operating license No 000-050185-R-328112-006 Combined Remote Operating License – Real Event and Virtual Betting Casino held by Stakers Limited.
The suspension is immediate and as a result, Stakers is no longer permitted to offer gambling services via its stakers.com website in the territory of Great Britain. The operator has been instructed to facilitate customer accessing their s to withdraw funds and to advise players to refrain from placing bets using the website.
UKGC stated in a media release that the operator is suspected of breaching a condition of the license (section 116(2)(a) of the Gambling Act 2005) and is not suited to carry on the licensed activities (section 116(2)(c)(i) of the Gambling Act 2005), with a license suspension pending the conclusion of a review seen as necessary.
The section suspected of breach states that the Commission may review any matter connected with the provision of facilities for gambling as authorized by an operating license if the Commission has any reason to suspect that activities may have been carried on in purported reliance on the license but not in accordance with the condition stated in the license itself.
The said section also states that the UKGC is allowed to launch a license review in case it suspects that the licensee may be unsuitable of carrying on the licensed activities.
The Commission was set up under the Gambling Act of 2005 in order to regulate gambling in Great Britain together with licensing authorities. It also regulates the National Lottery.
Additionally, it issues licenses for license holders, gambling premises and heavily promotes responsible gambling.
The Commission operates as an executive non-departmental public body of the Government of the United Kingdom. The main goal of the Commission is to keep crime away from gambling and to protect the end-s. They also consult the government on gambling-related issues.
