Mohegan Sun Teams Up With MLS's New Your City FC

As a continuation of a relatively new trend that sprung from last year’s sports betting liberalization…

…yet another major gambling operator decided to form bonds with a professional sports franchise. This time around, Mohegan Sun Casino & Resort from Connecticut has signed a strategic partnership with Major League Soccer’s (MLS) New York City FC.

The key intention of these two is to bring their fans and punters closer to experiences “money can’t buy.”

This Season’s Agreement, With an Extension Option

According to of an agreement which was signed for the duration of the 2019 season…

…Mohegan Sun and New York City FC will be offering “special experiences” to the casino’s visitors who wish to attend special events as well as to team’s fans during home matches.

In the Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment-operated facility, NYC football club will receive its first-ever on-field pen area presenting partner who will deliver a very exclusive VIP pre-game section to soccer fans.

The gambling property’s representatives will also be present at some of the club’s exclusive events…

…but there’s something in it for Mohegan visitors as well: of the Momentum Rewards program will be offered special ticket deals for the team’s 2019 season!

Soccer Club ing Celtics and Yankees

Ray Pineaut, the casino’s president and general manager, commented:

“Offering our guests fresh, unique experiences is our goal; the program we have put in place with NYCFC – one of the US’s top sports and entertainment brands – delivers on that promise.”

The MLS franchise is not the first professional sports team to be involved with Mohegan Sun’s Momentum Rewards program…

…for their fellow citizens, MLB’s Yankees and iconic NBA team, Boston Celtics, are also on board!

MLS Ready to Embrace Sports Betting

America’s premiere soccer competition is finally well-prepared to embrace sports betting in all its forms, said the league’s commissioner, Don Garber, during last week’s Q&A session.

This new vertical, he argues, will bring fans closer to the MLS, which in turn will be able to “take advantage of taxable revenue.”

Garber commented: “If people are going to do it, you might as well manage and organise it. You might as well generate tax revenue for it and find ways that the league could use it as a marketing tool to have people engage more with our players and our clubs.”

He added that what matters the most for MLS is not the potential revenue it will collect from sports betting…

…but how the league engages more fans to partake deeply in games and get closer to teams.
