issuing cease-and-desist letters to 10 offshore operators linked to Apex Dynamics Ltd. The Belize-based company is accused of violating Michigan’s gaming laws by offering unlawful casino-style games and imposing restrictive withdrawal conditions.
The MGCB determined that Apex Dynamics’ casino platforms were operating illegally in Michigan, breaching several state laws, including the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and the Michigan Penal Code. As a result, the regulator ordered the following operators to cease operations within 14 days:
MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams emphasized the agency’s commitment to preserving the integrity of the legal gaming market in Michigan. “The Gaming Control Board’s relentless dedication to maintaining the integrity of Michigan’s gaming industry drives our efforts,” Williams stated. “We will continue to take strong action to shut down illegal operations that undermine trust in Michigan’s legal gaming system.”
Investigations by the MGCB revealed that Apex Dynamics’ brands implemented unfair gaming conditions, including requiring players to wager their deposits multiple times before withdrawing winnings. Additionally, these platforms offered casino games without obtaining the necessary state licensing, violating Michigan’s strict gaming regulations.
This move follows a similar action earlier in the month when the MGCB issued cease-and-desist notices to five other offshore casinos that were also operating without authorization. These operators, headquartered in countries such as Costa Rica, China, Curaçao, and Belize, were found to be offering games like slots, poker, blackjack, keno, bingo, and sports betting without proper regulatory oversight.
The MGCB has warned that failure to comply with the cease-and-desist orders could lead to further legal consequences. If Apex Dynamics does not halt its operations within the given timeframe, the regulator will collaborate with the Michigan Attorney General’s Office to pursue additional legal action against the company and its associated brands.
The regulator also urges Michigan residents to the licensing status of online casinos before engaging in any gaming activities. Players can check the official MGCB website to ensure they are using legally sanctioned platforms.
