Michigan Gaming Control Board Shuts Down Ace23 Gambling Network

Despite the claims made by Ace23 that it is licensed in Canada and Costa Rica through the Ace Gaming Network, it lacks the required license to operate legally in Michigan. The MGCB’s thorough investigation revealed that the website enables “agents” to set up their own bookmaking platforms. These agents can use customized designs or “skins” and different web pages to accept bets and process payouts for their own customers. Ace23 facilitates the setup, organization, and istrative tasks, charging the agents $10 per week for each active player. The platform also offers casino games, but these do not involve Ace23 in the financial transactions. Instead, agents handle all wagers and payouts between themselves and their players.

Crackdown on Unlawful Operations

MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams emphasized the importance of maintaining lawful and responsible gaming within the state. “The Michigan Gaming Control Board is committed to safeguarding the integrity of legal gaming in the state and protecting consumers from illicit offshore operations like Ace23,” Williams stated. He added that the MGCB’s primary focus is on promoting responsible gaming while upholding Michigan’s laws. “To that end, we ask all Michigan residents to stay informed and stay safe by reporting any suspected illegal gambling activities to the agency because we take every tip very seriously.”

The cease-and-desist action comes after it was found that Ace23 not only facilitates gambling activities but also s transactions through cryptocurrencies and retailer gift cards. Agents are able to pay for the “per head” charges using these methods, including by scratching off gift card codes and entering them into their online s.

The MGCB has identified Ace23’s operations as a direct violation of several state laws, including the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Penal Code, and the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act. The illegal activities of Ace23 and Ace Per Head pose serious threats to both consumers and the broader gaming industry in Michigan. The potential harm includes the undermining of licensed and regulated gaming institutions and the exposure of players to unprotected, unlawful betting environments.

In response, the MGCB issued cease-and-desist orders to both Ace23 and Ace Per Head. These letters demand that all gambling activities targeting Michigan residents cease within 14 days of receiving the order.
