After g two major strategic partnerships with NHL and NBA, the American global hospitality and entertainment conglomerate, MGM Resorts, has entered into an agreement with Major League Baseball, an official report reads.
The recently announced all-inclusive collaboration deal will combine both brands across the league including team sponsorships and it will also cover data usage in gaming, as well as promotional activities regarding domestic and international activations at MLB events.
The post-PASPA era has already witnessed several multi-million-dollar deals. However, the latest contract will make the Vegas-based giant MLB’s first-ever gaming partner, entitling it to incorporate playMGM onto a great many platforms.
Robert Manfred, the league’s commissioner said:
“We are pleased to partner with MGM Resorts International, a clear industry leader in the sports gaming area, to work together on bringing innovative experiences to baseball fans and MGM customers. Our partnership with MGM will help us navigate this evolving space responsibly, and we look forward to the fan engagement opportunities ahead.”

“We are excited to enter into this historic partnership with MLB. We are thrilled to create a new, one-of-a-kind fan experience for baseball fans. Combining MGM Resorts’ world-class entertainment and technology with MLB data will continue to transform a rapidly changing industry. This partnership further amplifies the significance of our GVC JV, firmly establishing MG Resorts and playMGM as the market leader in partnerships with major professional sports leagues.”
As already mentioned, MGM Resorts International has established itself as the pacesetter in the industry, as it manages to enter partnerships and lock down deals faster than any other gambling giant. This year’s Mississippi.
Finally, senior vice president of public affairs for the American Gaming Association, Sara Slane, expressed her opinion on the recently signed contract by saying:
“Agreements between sports leagues and the gaming industry enable all sports stakeholders to work together to eliminate the illegal sports betting market. With MLB’s announcement today, three major sports leagues now have official sports betting partners — evidence of our commitment to protecting the integrity of both consumers and sporting competitions and that contracts remain preferential to statutes in all sports betting deals.”
According to the Nielsen Sports’ study, conducted in October 2018, Major League Baseball could cash in $4.2 billion from sports betting.
