Renowned American company, MGM Resorts International, which recently laid out its financial goals through 2021, has gained more well-deserved recognition. This time, world-known business magazine, Forbes, named MGM Resorts one of America’s ‘best employers for diversity’ in 2019.
In partnership with online statistics, market research and business intelligence portal, Statista, Forbes assembled a list for 2019…
…in which over 50,000 employees were thoroughly observed at their companies all over the USA.
Many large names in various industries were included in the survey since each company that participated has at least 1000 employees.
In this survey, each participant had to give his opinion on various questions regarding their company’s attitude toward the questions of age discrimination, gender equality, ethnicity, disability, LGBTQ+, and various general diversity topics.
Also, in the survey, the opinion of women, elders and ethnic minorities were valued much higher than the ones coming from non-minority groups…
…because examiners wanted to make sure that opinions from diverse groups were taken into consideration as well.
Besides evaluating their employers, the participants in the survey were also given the chance to evaluate other employers from the same industries whether they think those companies have a more positive or negative opinion about diversity.
MGM Resorts International, who recently hired former Nevada governor as a new board member, was included on the list as one of the best American employers for diversity.
So, Chief Diversity Officer of this MGM, Phillis A. James, noted that it makes her and other company officials extremely proud.
“We are proud to be recognized by Forbes once again for the gains we have made in embedding diversity and inclusion into our workforce, our values and culture, and our operations,” says James.
“For us, this is a continuous business imperative central to our success as a highly productive, innovative enterprise, and as an employer, business partner and community citizen of choice. Inclusion is key to our future,” she added.
MGM Resorts International is an American global hospitality and entertainment company operating destination resorts in Detroit, Las Vegas, Mississippi, Maryland and New Jersey. The company owns some of the legendary Las Vegas hotels: Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, and the Mirage, while constantly buying new venues…
…like Empire City Casino in Yonkers, New York, that the company acquired for $850 million earlier this month.
It holds ownership at over 29 unique hotels throughout the world, as well as casinos, conference spaces, live and theatrical entertainment venues…
…and also many restaurants, nightclubs, and retail businesses.
The company recently partnered up with software company, Xperiel and signed a partnership deal with Sacramento Kings, a professional basketball team from California.
“We are very excited about the opportunity to partner with the Kings to become their exclusive presenting partner for the Call the Shot game. MGM Resorts looks forward to this unique opportunity to innovate free-to-play gaming and provide fans with a one-of-a-kind entertainment experience,” President of interactive gaming at MGM, Scott Butera, said in an official statement.

Hope that the employees that participated in the survey were honest. It is really hard not to be discriminated nowadays.
