FanDuel Gets Ready to Stream Live NHL Games

New York City based bookmaker and daily fantasy sports provider FanDuel Group is gearing up to stream live NHL games thanks to its partnership with IMG Arena. Hockey matches will be accessible directly from the app as part of the enhanced experience, with up to two games a day throughout the regular season.

The precondition for customers to participate in legal sports betting on hockey via FanDuel app is the jurisdiction itself, since the sportsbook and its offerings are only available in those states where wagering on sports is legal.

Among such states are currently New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New York (retail only), Iowa (retail only) and Indiana.

As a result of IMG Arena’s ability to bring sport and sports betting industry closer together through federation services, the venture has co-actively secured rights to provide operators with live streams of National Hockey League matches, where 31 teams compete in an 82-game regular season.

The duration of 2019-20 NHL season spans from October 2nd 2019 to April 4th 2020, with Stanley Cup playoffs following a few days afterwards.

One-Stop-Shop for All Sports

According to the statistics published by IMG Arena, live streaming is immensely popular in Europe and around the globe. The platform has reported a record 56 million viewers around the world in 2019, having watched more than 175 million hours of content collectively. Niall Connell, general manager and SVP for the FanDuel Group, explains:

“As we continue to innovate and expand nationwide, the ability to further enhance the live game and live betting experience is increasingly important to our customers. Our goal is to become a one-stop-shop for all sports and betting content, and live streaming professional sports like hockey is one of the many ways we are reaching that goal.”

The report also reads that games will rotate each night, while blackouts may apply to local teams and national broadcasts. NHL is shown on multiple regional sports networks in both the Canada.

XFL Daily Fantasy Contests Live on FanDuel

In case you missed the announcement about partnership between XFL and FanDuel at the beginning of February, it might help to know that the group has been designated as the league’s official fantasy sports provider. The arrangement will not only provide full access to official XFL data, but league and team marks, logos and contests during 2020 regular season and post-season.

FanDuel and XFL will also collaborate on custom content and special promotions, such as the recently hosted kickoff show “More Ways to Win” by Lisa Kerney on February 8th, 2020. Kip Levin, president of the sports betting company from New York said on that occasion the following:

“The XFL and FanDuel share the goal of creating compelling digital fan experiences and finding new ways to engage fans both at home and attending live sporting events. By teaming up directly with the XFL in the league’s inaugural season, we can work together to give our fantasy customers more ways to play, and XFL fans a new way to engage with the games.”

Jeffrey Pollack, president and COO of the American professional football league, owned by Vince McMahon’s Alpha Entertainment, said that fantasy sports represent a quintessential part of the experience, allowing fans additional ways to connect with their favorite teams.

Among the latest casino operators to team up with FanDuel is Twin River Worldwide Holdings, which now provides a diverse product offering from the sportsbook platform to Colorado residents.
