Spillemyndigheden has revised its certification program for online gambling operators, with new rules coming into effect on January 1, 2025. A six-month transition period will allow affected businesses to comply by July 1, 2025.
A major change in the updated framework is the introduction of supplier licenses, requiring game suppliers to manage their own certification processes. Previously, operators were responsible for these reports, but now suppliers must submit their certifications directly to the regulator.
Under the revised guidelines, certification reports must be submitted separately for each license holder and game supplier. In instances where a single certification applies to multiple companies, distinct reports are required for each entity to ensure ability.
The certification program encomes seven key areas, including random number generators (RNG), base platforms, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments. Compliance deadlines vary between one and two months after the certification period.
With the transition period ending on July 1, 2025, businesses must align operations with the new regulations to avoid penalties and operational disruptions.
