Delaware Sports Betting and iGaming Revenue Down in April

Delaware Sports Betting and iGaming Revenue Down in April

Even though there was a nice improvement in Delaware’s sports betting revenue numbers in March…

…in April the statistics showed a major month-on-month decline.

Revenue from sports wagering came to $615,772 in April, which is majorly lower than $1.64 million that was gained in March.

Delaware officials also revealed that online gaming revenue significantly dropped during April, even to a yearly low.

Also, the total amount wagered in April came to $6.1 million, while, on the other hand, the customers placed a $10.5 million worth of bets in March.

However, it might be that March figures were significantly higher because, at that time, March Madness US college sports series took place…

…so much more people wagered and much more money was put on sports betting.

The Best Ranked Venues

Delaware Park is once again the best in Delaware’s sports betting market even though it had a major revenue slip from $1.03 million in March to $369,894 last month. Stakes amount was also down from $6.6 million to $3.7 million.

Dover Downs is yet again at second place, with revenue of $131,139 in April, down from $328,147 penned in March. Also, stakes dropped from $2.1 million to $1.3 million.

Harrington Raceway ranked third, just a little behind Dover Downs. Its total sports betting revenue came to $114,739…

…which is unbelievably low since the same venue generated $1.8 million in March. When it comes to Harrington’s stakes, they also dropped from $1.8 million to $1.2 million.

More Details on iGaming Revenue

The state’s online gaming market didn’t show good results either. The revenue coming from iGaming came to $263,182, which is the lowest monthly total so far this year.

In April, Delaware players spent a total of $11.9 million, which, even though is down from $14.6 million reported in March, is the second-highest monthly figure in 2019.

However, punters proved to be more successful, because they won $11.7 million in April.

Delaware Park was the highest-ranked venue when it comes to iGaming revenue…

…which came up to $144,084 in April, up from $138,430 in March, even though the stakes slipped from $8.4 million to $5.2 million.

Punters actually spent the most at Dover, and the total amount came to $5.5 million in April, which is a nice improvement from $5.0 million wagered in March. However, the revenue only came to $75,323, which is slightly down from $78,953 in March.

Harrington Raceway remains at low when it comes to iGaming, with its revenue for April at $43,775, down from $71,360 in March. Stakes remained flat at $1.2 million, compared with $1.3.

Sports Betting in Delaware

Delaware was one of the first states to launch sports betting after the US Supreme Court lifted the ban on this type of wagering back in May last year.

A few weeks after the Supreme Court lifted the federal ban, the state launched all-out services on Tuesday, June 5th.

This decision represented a historic moment, as it was the first implementation of legalized sports wagering in the U.S. after the Supreme Court repealed PASPA (Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act).
