On Tuesday, October 22nd, Indiana’s authority have green-lit FanDuel’s application for a mobile sports betting license in this state.
This operator will be offering mobile sports betting services as they forces with Blue Chip Casino. They already have a sportsbook at their partner’s brick-and-mortar venue in Michigan City.
Indiana has legalized sports betting (mobile included) on September 1st – which is when this state’s retail betting market took off. However, operator authorization wasn’t completely done, which is one of the rare instances in which legalization of market happened before operator got their permits.
DraftKings also launched their own sportsbook on October 4th.
In July, FanDuel launched their mobile sportsbook in Pennsylvania, which was followed by West Virginia launch in August. Indiana seems to be a promised land for FanDuel because they launched a previously announced partnership with NFL team, the Indianapolis Colts.
Indiana’s sports betting market is off to a good start because in its first month of operations it collected a revenue of $35.2 million. Blue Chip Casino’s total player wager was $3.9 million while the total adjusted gross receipts were $957,470.
In August, FanDuel became MLB’s authorized operator…
…by g a multi-year partnership which will see FanDuel gain access to official MLB data that will be used to bolster the in-play segment which contributes to 50% of the total business in the whole vertical.
They will also gain access to team logos on all of their retail sportsbook properties.
MLB’s Kenny Gersh, executive vice president of gaming and new business ventures, said of this deal: “FanDuel has proven itself to be a leader in the sports betting space and has shifted a step ahead again through its commitment to, and recognition of, the value in being an authorised gaming operator.”
